Edward Moffatt ~ Father, FIL, Papaw

On August 5th of this year, my husband said goodbye to his father, I said goodbye to my father-in-law and our children said goodbye to their papaw. This ugly thing called cancer had taken away a very special person in our lives. The thing about cancer is, it doesn't matter who you are, young or old, rich or poor, it will destroy anything in it's path if it chooses. Ed found out 4 months ago that he had kidney cancer, then lung cancer and then a cancer cell on his brain. It was devestating for our family.

Ed was a proud member of the Orleans Police Department in the town he called home. He was currently serving as the Assistant Chief until his diagnosis, then took a short term leave while he was sick. Sadly, he never made it back to work. He loved his job. He worked in law enforcement for years & years. He was planning on retiring there. I had the opportunity to work with my father-in-law on several occasions while I worked in law enforcement myself. He was a great man, loved, admired and certainly missed by many.

Although he loved his job tremendously, there was something he loved more than that, his family. He never was a man of many words, not the flashy type, but when it came down to it, he was there for his kids. He raised his four young children by himself, something you don't hear too much of these days. He made a point to tell his children he loved them. I think they would have known it if he hadn't spoken a word. Loosing someone you love, someone you are so very close to, it's the hardest thing a person could go through. It's not something you can forget easily, you just have to remember the good times and cherish the memories.

In honor and memory of Edward Eugene Moffatt.

Vacation 2008

We again made the trip to Florida this year - out favorite place to be, other than home. We went back to the place we first took Tinsley too 3 years ago, while I was pregnant with Hunter. It was such a nice place that I remembered and I couldn't wait to see if it had changed any in 3 years. When we finally arrived, got settled in & unpacked our many, many suitcases, we make the short walk to the beach. Ahhh - I can still smell the ocean air. There is nothing like it! To wake up to that every morning was such a delight. We took so many pictures while we were there and they all turned out great! The place we stayed at was called Indian Shores, it's located between Clearwater Beach & St. Petersburg. The little kids loved playing on the beach and honestly so did us big kids! We would go for night walks down the beach and it was so peaceful. It rained of course, about every other day, but only for about 20 minutes. While we were at the beach, we noticed a storm brewing and I caught an awesome picture of some clouds forming.

This is another favorite picture of mine. It was right before we walked onto the beach and the sea grass was swaying back and forth. I played with the color on my camera to brighten the background, but it was very close to what you are seeing.

This last picture shows my beautiful children surrounding a giant sandcastle! I wish we could take credit for building it, but we can't. Although that didn't stop me from trying to build a massive one of my own. It didn't stand a chance though. The builder of this one was gracious enough to let me snap a picture of my kids by it for memories!
